What is the difference between microblading and powder brows?

Microblading and eyebrow tattooing are both techniques used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. They are both semi-permanent cosmetic techniques used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. While they share similarities as tattoo-based procedures, the process is very different.
● Microblading: This technique involves creating hair-like strokes using a blade with fine needles to cut and deposit pigment into the skin. Due to this manual process, there is no way to control the depth that the blade cuts into the skin. The depth at which pigment is placed is crucial for the short and long-term appearance of the brows. When placed too deep, the ink can "blow out" or spread over time and will not fade. When placed too shallow, the pigment will not last. This method also creates scar tissue, which will not hold pigment well when the eyebrows eventually need to be touched up.
● Powder Brows: This technique uses a specialized tattoo machine to deposit pigment under the skin. The machine is able to control the depth at which the pigment is placed in the skin, so clients do not run into the same issues as with microblading. Powder brows provide a more shaded or filled-in look, similar to when you fill your brows in with makeup.

A topical numbing cream will be applied to the area to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Using a tattoo machine, your provider will deposit pigment into the skin to build them up and give your brows a fluffy, powdered appearance. You'll receive instructions for post-procedure care, which typically includes avoiding water, sun exposure, and certain skincare products for a week or so. A follow-up session will be scheduled about 6-8 weeks later to perfect the results and layer the pigment.

What is the healing process for eyebrow tattooing?

● Days 1-2: Redness and swelling may still occur in the treated area. Your brows will appear too dark for the next week or two.

● Days 4-9: The brows will start to peel. It is crucial that you leave this peeling alone and let it fall off on its own.

● Days 10-12: Peeling should be complete around this time. Your brows may now appear too light.

● Weeks 4-5: The color will darken once again as the regeneration process is fully restored.

● Weeks 6-8: A touch-up appointment should be scheduled to address any areas that may need correction as well as to layer the pigment to help it last longer.
