NEUROTOXIN PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS

Before Treatment

● Avoid medications that inhibit blood-clotting such as vitamin E, aspirin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to treatment.● Schedule your Neurotoxin appointment at least four weeks prior to a special event--such as a wedding or a vacation--to allow for best results, for any potential bruising/swelling to subside and for refinement where necessary.● As you prepare for your treatment, please notify staff of any changes to your medical history, health status, and personal activities that may be relevant to your treatment. Reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if you do not feel well.

Day of Treatment

● Arrive at your appointment with a clean face--please do not wear makeup. You may bring your own makeup to apply after your treatment.● The procedure includes multiple fine needle injections and mild discomfort. Tenderness can last for a few hours or a few days.● Redness and swelling similar to a mosquito bite is normal for 10-20 minutes after treatment. Some mild bruising may also occur.

After Treatment

You have received a neurotoxin treatment. Toxin treatment effects take about 2 weeks to fully develop. The results last between 2-4 months depending on the area treated and the amount of product used.
Please follow the instructions below after your neurotoxin treatment.
● Do not massage or manipulate injected areas for 24 hours after injections. Washing your face gently and applying make-up is fine. Avoid using a Clarisonic facial cleanser, having a facial, placing your face in a massage cradle, or lying face down in a chiropractor’s chair for 24 hours following the injection. If you are uncertain about the time frame between these activities and your treatment, ask your provider. ● Do not rest your head or lie down for 4 hours following treatment. This will ensure the product will not spread into the orbit of your eye, which could cause a drooping eyelid in rare instances. ● If you have had injections in the upper face, do not wear a headband or hat if the band extends across your forehead. ● If bruising appears, it usually resolves within 7-10 days. Oral and/or topical application of Arnica Montana may help reduce bruising. ● The most common side effect of Botulinum Toxin A injections is a headache, which may be treated with Tylenol. If you are a chronic headache sufferer and have a prescription headache medication, you may take it as prescribed by your doctor. ● Do not perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for the remainder of the day after treatment. This will prevent the Neurotoxin from migrating outside of the injected area. ● A supplemental “refinement” treatment may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results. If the desired result is not seen 2 weeks after your treatment, you may require an additional product. The refinement treatment must be scheduled no sooner than 2 weeks post treatment and no later than 3 weeks post treatment. Fees are based on the product used, therefore you will be charged for products used during any refinement or subsequent appointments. If this is your first treatment, we recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment 2 weeks after your injection.
