Before Treatment

● Schedule your facial PRF Biofiller appointment at least two weeks prior to a special event that you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Bruising and swelling may be apparent for up to two weeks after your treatment.
● Avoid vaccinations and dental cleanings/procedures for 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
● Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to treatment, as it can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising.
● Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medications, if possible, for a period of two weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS thin the blood and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
● Avoid systemic use of Corticosteroids for at least 3 days prior and 3 days post treatment (steroids disrupt the healing cascade which is needed for results).
● Discontinue Retin-A use two days before and two days after treatment.
● If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another outbreak of cold sores. Please let us know so you can be prescribed antiviral medication prior to treatment.
● If you do not feel well, have a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area, please reschedule at least 48 hours in advance.
● Hydrate the day before your appointment and the day of your appointment for ease of the blood draw.

Day of Treatment

● Be sure to have a solid meal, including food and drink, the morning before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.
● Please arrive at the office with a clean face. NO makeup, tinted moisturizer, sunscreen, etc. which may interfere with the procedure.
● You may not receive treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
● When you arrive, please notify Medspa 501 staff of any changes to your medical history or health status.

Post Treatment

● You have received a Facial PRF Biofiller treatment. The results will be apparent immediately and gradually subtle/natural results can be seen up to 2-6 months post treatment.
● The average person needs 2-4 initial treatments at 4-6 weeks apart with results possibly lasting up to 2 years.
Please follow the instructions below after your facial PRF Biofiller treatment.
● When you arrive, please notify Medspa 501 staff of any changes to your medical history or health status.

What is normal after your procedure?

● Bruising may be visible initially, and then become more obvious the next day. It will fade over the next 7 to 14 days.
● You may experience significant swelling after injections. Applying clean, cool compresses to the treatment area helps to reduce swelling, but do not apply firm pressure to the area as filler is still malleable.
● Do not apply make-up over injection points for 24 hours after the procedure.● Mild, non-painful swelling may last for up to 2 weeks.
● Some people may experience a dull ache and/or tenderness in the treated areas. This will subside in 48-72 hours.

Helpful Tips

● Refrain from touching the treatment area for the remainder of the treatment day to reduce the risk of infection.
● Keep your head above your heart for 4 hours to help reduce swelling.
● Avoid exposure to UV light and extreme heat from saunas, steam, sunbed, hot showers, hot yoga, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours post treatment. This may increase discomfort and swelling.
● Topical and oral Arnica+Bromelain are natural supplements that help reduce bruising. Taking an over-the-counter antihistamine (Zyrtec, Claritin) daily may help minimize swelling.
● You may take acetaminophen/Tylenol for pain. It is best to avoid aspirin or NSAIDS such as ibuprofen, which may increase bruising.
● Avoid applying unnecessary pressure over any areas treated, especially in the first 24 hours. This includes facial massages, facial treatments, and facial cradles.
● Treated areas can be cleaned with a gentle cleanser such as ZO Gentle Cleanser after treatment.
● Avoid drinking alcohol for a minimum of 12 hours as this may contribute to bruising and/or swelling.
● Avoid dental cleanings/procedures and vaccinations for at least 2 weeks after a PRF Biofiller treatment.
● At 2 weeks your PRF Biofiller has integrated into the tissues. At this point, it is normal to feel a cushion of the product but not to see product irregularities. Please let the office know if you detect any visible lumps or bumps.
● Additional treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired look.
